Hello, hi, SPRING – you beautiful, wonderful thing!
True to Colorado form, this season is blowing in like a lion. And by that, I mean we had 40mph winds yesterday. Just some casual hurricane force gusts – no biggie. 😂 But I am NOT complaining. Because these winds are accompanied with 70 degrees and sunshine.
Bring. On. The. Spring. And all of my favorite things. Camping and grilling out and playing with Scout in the backyard. Vibrant, veggie-centric meals like these chickpea naan wraps. And PICNICS. My all-time favorite date. I'll take fresh air and a bottle of wine over a fancy restaurant dinner any day. ☀
I have one rule when it comes to picnics: keep it simple. I am not bringing an entire charcuterie board to this situation. I am not bringing anything that requires spreading, assembling, or cleanup. It's all about easy, handheld, and delicious. For example... these WRAPS. Fresh, colorful chickpea wraps stuffed with all of my favorite textures and flavors, mediterranean chickpea naan wraps, amazing!
The best part? I'm 100% certain (after plenty of hands-on research) that these wraps pair perfectly with chilled rosé and warm spring days. 😘 Are you feeling this as much as I am? That's what I thought.
SO first things first, we get the wine chilling. We opted for Decoy's lovely dry rosé because I knew it would pair perfectly with our light picnic meal. Pick up everything you need for these chickpea wraps at the grocery + your favorite fruits and other snacks. Then, on picnic day, we quickly cook the chickpeas. Next, we slather hummus on a piece of naan, pour in the chickpeas and then load up the veggies – tomatoes, cucumber, romaine, and red onion. Finally, we gently fold it in half and wrap it snugly in the parchment. Pack everything into a little cooler and hit the road.
That's exactly the process we followed to get ready for our date last weekend. And then we hit a dead end. I had my heart set on having a picnic by a beautiful reservoir just outside of Woodland Park. But I didn't even think about checking to see if it was open for the season yet. Total amateur move. Total bummer. So here we are, sitting in front of a "Do Not Enter" gate. The car is loaded up with picnic essentials, Scout is anticipating a fun outing, and we're ready to unwind with that perfectly chilled bottle of Decoy rosé. I'm not one to take no for an answer – so we changed plans and found the next best things. (Luckily we had a few go-to spots that we could fall back on.)
We threw down the blanket, laid out our meal, and opened up the wine... and BOOM. An average weekday picnic was immediately elevated – just like that, we were transported to Sonoma. See? Picnics are THE BEST.
Head for your favorite backroad. Your nearest city park. A quiet lake or pond or stream. Or your backyard. With your bae or your bestie or your mom or your pup! Just get out there and soak up the sunshine the first chance you get. Crack that bottle of Decoy Rosé and let spring into your beautiful soul. 💛💛💛 PS – We've found this wine at our local Costco and a few other stores. PrintMediterranean Chickpea Naan Wraps
- Total Time: 20 minutes
- Yield: 2 wraps 1x
Description
This Mediterranean chickpea naan wrap recipe is loaded up with spiced chickpeas, hummus, and a rainbow of crunchy, fresh vegetables. These vegan wraps are great for lunch, dinner, meal prep, and picnics!
Ingredients
- 2 naan wraps
- 1 - 15 oz. can chickpeas, drained and rinsed, then dried
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- ½ Tablespoon nutritional yeast (optional, but I like the savory flavor)
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup romaine, chopped
- 2 roma tomatoes, sliced
- ¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced
- ¼ cup cucumber, chopped
- ¼ cup hummus, (more or less as desired)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, bring 2 teaspoons of olive oil to medium. Add chickpeas, seasonings, and lemon juice. Sauté 8-10 minutes until heated.
- Warm naan wraps in the oven until they're pliable (most brands have directions on the packaging), then remove and place each on an individual, large piece of parchment paper. Spread hummus onto the wraps – I like to spread a generous amount all on one half of the wrap for easier folding. Then spoon chickpeas onto the hummus, dividing evenly between the two wraps.
- Top with desired veggies, then fold the naan in half and wrap in parchment. Stow them away in your picnic basket or cooler until you're ready to roll!
Notes
*Veggie toppings are suggested, loose quantities. Add as much or as little as you desire!

Man these wraps look tasty! I love anything wrapped up in nice, soft naan bread, lol. And I'm with you about avoiding fussy picnicking foods!
★★★★★
Amen to that - I am a naan fiend! <3
" I am not bringing an entire charcuterie board to this situation " literally made me laugh out loud!! Your wraps look and sound delicious. Loving those mountain views too!
It's the truth! Lazy picnics or bust. ;) Thank you!
I am ready for a picnic now. The wraps look amazing and your photos are beautiful!
Yay – I hope you have a lovely time! <3
What a lovely picnic! I love that you've included chickpeas in these wraps - they add such a nice bit of heartiness to all those fresh veggies. Pass me a glass of rosé!
Such beautiful pictures! Lush and green surroundings. I used to live in the Middle East and I love food from that region so these flavours are home to my palate. Like pairing the chickpeas with hummus.
Yummy! So fresh light, delicious and healthy! Perfect with that glass of wine. I love your whole picnic set up and it made me so hungry! I'm not a big fan of hummus so I will use a light dressing instead.
★★★★★
I love a good wine pairing. ;) I've also made these with tzatziki instead, which is also delicious!
As most of our picnics come about as a result of an impulsive, last minute decision, this is a great idea! And that's a gorgeous view!
★★★★★
Impulsive can be better than planned! Either way, any picnic is a good picnic. <3

Hahaha right?! No need to choose. ;)
This is a gorgeous wrap! All the ingredients sound delicious. I'm super picky about wraps, but I'd actually eat this one. :)

Oh I love the picture of your dog. What a beautiful place you live in! That Decoy Rosé looks very interesting. I'm a new wine drinker and didn't know they made a dry rosé. I'll have to check that out. I think my sister will love it too.
★★★★★
Awww thanks! She is a sweetheart. I definitely recommend trying it! I think they achieved the perfect balance of dryness with a hint of sweet.
Na'an and hummus is THE BEST! like pb and j, but way less sugar and just as enjoyable. I saw this picnic on your instastories, so glad I got to see the post!
Agreed! I've never been a huge PB & J fan so sandwiches like this are my jam. Thanks for checking it out!
Wine and a picnic... perfect. These look delicious and so does that wine!
I agree! What better combo? :)
