This tapas pizza recipe is made with Mahón-Mencora cheese, mini naan breads, and fresh veggies for a delicious bite-sized appetizer.

Tapas Pizzas Cheese

This recipe was created for the Mahón Menorca cheese challenge. All opinions are my own – I LOVE this cheese for mini tapas pizzas and so much more!

Oh, hey. TAPAS. But make them pizza. And make them mini and bite-sized so that I can eat them allllllllll. Tapas pizzas, yes, please!

A tapas night is undeniably my favorite date night dinner option. We first tried tapas in Indianapolis – of all places – and we were hooked! If you don’t know what tapas are, I recommend that you get on Google or Yelp and look up the nearest tapas restaurant. You will not regret it. In general, tapas are small bites or appetizers that are enjoyed before main meals in Spain.

The patatas bravas, the paella, the garlic shrimp, the mushrooms and of course, the cheese. Oh, the cheese.  😍 The manchego and the Mahón. A savory, salty, buttery, spicy symphony of flavors and a wonderfully intimate communal meal experience. “Taste this, taste that. Wait! Taste this first, THEN have a bite of that. OMG – you have to taste this WITH that.” The plates are passed around and sampled. Wine and sangria are paired with the flavors. All the while thanking the heavens for the beautiful tastebuds that you have been gifted. THAT is how tapas work.

As far as date nights go, there’s only one other thing I love almost as much as tapas. If you’re reading this, you probably know it’s pizza. So I combined tapas AND pizza because why not? I got everything I needed for these tapas pizzas at my Kroger! From the Mahon-Menorca to the sauce to the naan breads. So convenient, so easy, and SO good.

Description

This tapas pizza recipe is made with Mahón-Mencora cheese, mini naan breads, and fresh veggies for a delicious bite-sized appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Mahón-Menorca cheese +/-
  • 8 mini naan breads
  • sauce (pizza sauce, pasta sauce, pesto, olive oil, or alfredo)
  • ¼ cup cherry tomatoes, sliced
  • ¼ cup red onion, sliced
  • ¼ cup mushrooms, slice

Instructions

  1. Grate Mahón-Menorca cheese and set aside. (I used my Microplane to get finely shredded cheese.)
  2. Preheat oven to 400º and arrange mini naan breads on a baking sheet.
  3. Spoon a small amount of sauce onto the naan breads and spread it evenly.
  4. Sprinkle a thin layer of cheese on the sauce, then add toppings of your choice. Add another thin layer of cheese and place the sheet pan into the oven.
  5. Bake 8 minutes, until cheese is melted and the crusts are golden brown.
