This carrot cake oatmeal smoothie recipe is made with 6 simple ingredients. It provides a whole serving of veggies, plus fiber and protein. Perfect for breakfast, as a pre-workout, or as a post-workout!
Oatmeal smoothies. Have you heard of them? Have you tried one? Do you think this sounds gross? Or are you an oatmeal-lover? Just curious. Because, ya know. Here’s an oatmeal smoothie for you – carrot cake style! If you’re wanting to jazz up your breakfast routine or throw a new smoothie into the rotation, you’re in the right place.
We’re taking simple ingredients – oats, carrots, banana, dates, coconut milk, and cinnamon – and making a dreamy, creamy power smoothie out of the mix. This bad boy tastes like a carrot cake milkshake AND packs a seriously filling nutritional punch. Breakfast? Yes. Lunch? Sure. Pre-workout? Yup. Post-workout? Definitely.
To be completely honest, I was a little skeptical about the idea of an oatmeal smoothie. I’ve been hearing people rave about them for the past few months but I just couldn’t get past the oatmeal part of the equation. I’m not a big oatmeal fan. In fact, I don’t really like oatmeal at all. There was a brief phase where I forced myself to eat it in the mornings because it was “healthy,” but that involved a lot of brown sugar and therefore probably wasn’t even healthy at all.
So oatmeal in a smoothie? I wasn’t crazy about the idea but I tried it anyway. And guess what? (You probably already know what I’m about to say since I’m posting an oatmeal smoothie recipe.) I made a believer out of myself. I understand the oatmeal smoothie hype now – actually, I understand this much better than the whole smoothie bowl craze. This is a drinkable way to beef up my breakfast and get in a serving of oats… without eating oatmeal. BOOM.
As a side note, there are lots of add-in options for this smoothie! If you want it to be sweeter, a drizzle of maple syrup or honey, or a sprinkle of stevia will do the trick. You could add a spoonful of coconut oil for extra fat and calories. Chia, flax, or hemp seeds will mix right in. Heck, you could even add your favorite nut or seed butter. The possibilities are endless!
You know the drill… TRY THIS. Tell me what you think about it. And most definitely share an Instagram and tag #TheFitchen so I can share your magic!
PrintCarrot Cake Oatmeal Smoothie

This carrot cake oatmeal smoothie recipe is made with 6 simple ingredients. It provides a whole serving of veggies, plus fiber and protein. Perfect for breakfast, as a pre-workout, or as a post-workout!
- Prep Time: 5 mins
- Total Time: 5 mins
- Yield: 16 oz.
- Category: Drink
- Method: Blender
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk beverage (I use SoDelicious regular flavor)
- 1 cup boiled carrots (*see notes)
- 1/2 cup frozen banana
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup dates, pitted
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Optional Add-ins
- maple syrup for added sweetness
- coconut oil
- turmeric
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until well combined. I usually have to process twice to get the perfect smooth consistency.
Enjoy!
Notes
*I like to boil carrots ahead of time and refrigerate for when I need them. They can also be frozen – but, if you use frozen carrot, I recommend using thawed bananas or adding more coconut milk.

February 13, 2018We’re already big fans of overnight oats, we eat them almost everyday. So I guess oatmeal smoothies are the next step?? I’ve never really considered it before this but we’re constantly looking for pre and post workout drinks and meals. Looks like this would fit the bill!

February 13, 2018i like the idea of boiling carrots ahead of time…esp if the blender isnt that powerful.
also, i noticed on your recipe title, you probably meant carrot cake smoothie but it says cake cake smoothie, (which in my opinon sounds very delicious, double dose of cake in a smoothie :P)

February 11, 2018I’ve never heard of an oatmeal smoothie – interesting idea. I’ll have to try it. I wonder if the added oatmeal will help you feel “full” longer – that’s my issue with smoothies normally – I’m hungry an hour later.
